Fire and Light Originals, L.P. produces high-quality, colored glass tableware and accessories using recycled glass. All of our products are hand made, one by one. We are not a mass production facility. The company was begun by the Arcata Community Recycling Center as an attempt to have a more cost effective recycling program. Arcata's rural location, about 300 miles north of San Francisco, meant that the cost of transporting glass cullet often exceeded the scrap value. Local recyclers were interested in a way of adding more value to the glass before it left the area. Additionally, the founders wanted to create desperately needed jobs in an area once dominated by the timber and fishing industries. Thus Fire and Light was born. The company is four years old and markets its products throughout the United States.
