Technical Consultant Referral Service |
Our members have expressed the increasing difficulty of securing experienced technical experts for temporary consultation. GMIC has addressed our members’ need by recruiting highly experienced experts, who have agreed to make themselves available to GMIC members for technical consulting. GMIC consultants have experience in many areas of glass manufacturing including: refractory, glass science, materials purchasing, process and forming, melting plant design, manufacturing and quality, thermal processing, engineering management, glass ceramics, fiberglass, container glass, and flat glass. GMIC consultants have combined experience of over 200 years of glass industry experience. New consultants are continuing to be added to the consultant pool. |

GMIC Subsidized Technical Support |
Not only does GMIC provide expert referrals, but GMIC will financially underwrite a significant portion of the cost of hiring the consultant! Up to $500! |
How It Works |
If a GMIC member company identifies a need for a technical consultant, they contact the GMIC office indicating the nature of their need. The GMIC office will provide contact information for the GMIC consultants who have expertise in the area required. The member company then contacts the consultants directly, and contracts with the consultant for whatever work is desired. It is between the consultant and the member company to decide what their relationship will be; short term or long term, what services to be provided, what the compensation will be, what expenses will be reimbursed, etc.. If a consultant is referred to a member and performs work, the consultant will then invoice GMIC for reimbursement of their time, at $100/hour up to $500 per member per year. Many consultants have agreed to work at a reduced rate for GMIC, for example, an entire day of consulting for $500. For example, a member company hires a GMIC referred consultant to help with a technical problem. The consultant works for about a day and resolves the problem. The consultant will invoice GMIC for his time, up to $500, and GMIC will reimburse the consultant. If there is additional time, the consultant invoices the member only for the difference. Thus, the savings are passed directly to the member! The member pays only for the consultant time not directly subsidized by GMIC. The subsidies are limited to a maximum of $500 per member per year. GMIC will underwrite consultant’s time, but not any other expense, such as travel, travel time, etc.. Only glass melting members and associate members are eligible for the subsidies, however all members are eligible for the referrals. |

How to Obtain Technical Consultant Referrals |
If a need for technical assistance arises, contact Executive Director Bob Lipetz at the GMIC: office: +1-614-818-9423 or email: rwlipetz@gmic.org Based on your needs, you will be provided with biographies and resumes of the consultants with expertise in the area of need that you identify. You will be given their contact information and may contact them directly. |
How to Obtain Subsidies |
The GMIC subsidies are paid directly to the consultants. The consultants reduce their invoices to the members by the amount of the subsidies. Members do not need to file any paper work to receive the subsidy. |
